Carey Poindexter, "Fighting for Air "Carey has had severe chronic asthma since birth. Doctors said Carey would not live to see his 10th birthday.
He has been hospitalized 26 times, not including emergency room and doctor visits. Carey’s been in intensive care four times, and on a respirator once. He has had four surgeries, his most recent on August 2, 2011. He takes seven medications daily to manage his asthma and other medical challenges.Carey found a way to overcome his challenges by taking on the role as Ambassador for the American Lung Association.
He is “Fighting for Air,” in ways you can’t believe! Carey’s efforts are recognized by President Barack Obama, Ford Motor Company, City Governments, the news media and of course his friends and family.
For four years Carey has had a mission to bring a 5K Fight for Air to his coommunity and he is pleased to announce that he will be have his 1st Annual Carey Poindexter, Fight for Air Walk
The Lake Elsinore Storm Stadium has partnered with Carey to achieve is goal. The walk will be on May 17, 2014. It is a family friendly event. There will be food vendors, product and service vendors, showcase of electric and hybrid cars, jumping and bounce house for the kids, a concert to celebrate the completion of the walk and to finalize the day by attending the Storm baseball game. Come and watch Carey throw out the first pitch. We will have silent and live auction items and a chance to meet the Storm Players. It is SUPERHERO NIGHT for the game so Carey would like for your to come out and celebrate the CHAMPION in you.
